Sunday 11th December – Bike **** sunny

After yesterday’s foul day where it didn’t become light and rained most of the time:( we woke to sunshine so popped the Almond croissants in the oven, made a flask, got the bikes out and headed to the Ferry for breakfast. With the wind a light westerly, offshore, it was a pleasant peddle along the prom which wasn’t too busy to The Dip, past the golf course to your favourite spot by the River Deben.
It was lovely on the beach eating our breakfast with the tide high we hoped for a few boats to pass but here disappointed. After half an hour, we continued to The Ferry where the Sea cadets were preparing for an outing, then out on the new river path past the collection of house boats actually floating:) It is beautiful out here surrounded by big Suffolk skies with geese on the marshes and swans in the fields, reaching Kingsfleet we turned left inland to Trimley. Mag continued home while I turned, continuing down Cordys Lane. Even after yesterday’s rain the paths were not too muddy. I reached the dock viewing seat, no ships in sight this time, so down to the railway crossing gates on the dock. I carried on to the dock viewing point and to the old breakwater where I stopped to watch a tug go out to meet a large container ship. With it now clouding over and getting a bit chilly I headed home for some delicious homemade soup:)
So a nice couple of hours enjoying the best of Suffolk in the wintery sunshine covering 16 miles :)
